Queen [EB]: PR&P Season 11, Week Three

Welcome! I made it to week three of PR&P! This week’s theme is All That Glitters. My blog + business are both called Glitter+Wit, so I really hope I lived up to any expectations that may have been made from my name. HA! Enjoy!

For The Story and The Sewing, visit the voting post at Project Run and Play (and vote for me!!).

The Patterns:
My own crown headband pattern
MG2715 by Mingo & Grace, modified to become a top (which EB decided worked better as a jacket)
Self-drafted tank
Self-drafted skirt

The Fabrics:
Liberty of London gemstone print lawn
green+black striped/polka-dotted/floral embossed silk
black+silver fused lace with glitter
gold foil digital print neoprene
black tissue-weight rayon shimmer jersey

The Location:
Our own sunshiny living room, Springfield MO

The Girl:
None other than Queen EB, who is actually taking her turn with illness this week. Just a cough and slight fever, but still a trooper to take such great photos! She loves the outfit, so I guess that helped, too. :)
040_1The Photoshoot:
008_1 031_1ME: Okay, now drop the skirt…
032_1ME: Seriously…drop it…
033_4She thinks it’s hilarious to torture me so during photoshoots. Why aren’t there emoji in blog posts? Insert crying-laughing emoji here.
012_1 023_1 020_1 036_1This is how EB insisted the outfit should be worn: skirt slung low on the hips + open-backed top worn as a jacket (which is why I drafted the tank right before the photoshoot).
039_1Her wish was my command. I really loved that she wanted to have a say in this outfit. Usually I have to bribe her with chocolate chips, but she was loving the attention this time!
070_5 093_4A look at the tank beneath the “jacket.”
113_1How I had envisioned this week’s PR&P look: skirt worn at the waist, open-back top worn as such. I’m glad she pushed me to add another piece this week. In fact, I think I may like her way even better than my own!

086_1The Details:
166_1149_1 097_1Okay, I guess I do prefer the skirt length when worn at the waist…
137_1Bow in back…
048_1bow in front!
050_1 046_4I had a lot of fun mixing prints and textures this week. About halfway through, I was worried it wouldn’t turn out. That black+silver tank tied it all together.
095_4The edges of the tank, as well as the straps, are made from my good old friend Foldover Elastic. You need some.
129_1The crown is my own design. I sell them in many different fabrics (they are a big hit at local indie craft fairs!), but this print is one of my first (and one of my favorite). The fabric is a gorgeous Liberty of London Tana Lawn. It is covered in a mosaic of colorful gemstones and jewels–match made in heaven for an All That Glitters theme.

Last (but never least), The Nope:
126_1As always, check out the designers post at PR&P here (and vote for your favorite, which I hope is ME!). You’ll find more information about the inspiration for my look, and the sewing techniques I employed. Until next time!

I love all these pieces- especially the way you pleated the skirt along the stripes a la Anna’s coronation dress. I think I do need some fold over elastic- I’ve heard it referenced many times, but never tried it. Your various uses here are convincing me.
